Antique tools exhibit at Brill
Featuring items from the personal collection of John White (history), an exhibit of antique hand tools will be displayed on the second floor of Brill Science Library until the end of the semester.
The exhibit contains old instruments used during the 19th century.
"These were important for daily life over 100 years ago," White says. "The most unusual tool is the corner brace, used for hard-to-reach areas. This is a real collectors item," says White, who is the author of 11 books on technology in history.
Sponsored by the university libraries, the exhibit was organized by White and the science library staff.
It is the first in a series of exhibits on the history of science and technology, an idea promoted by Osama Ettourney (manufacturing engineering), who is teaching a class with White on the history of technology.
