12th annual Community Building Forum: Thomas Erlich, keynote speaker
Thomas Erlich, senior scholar, Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, will present "The Impact of Higher Education on Civic Responsibility" at 4 p.m. Friday in the Shriver Center multipurpose room. The presentation is the keynote address for the division of student affair’s 12th annual Community Building Forum, held in conjunction with the 20th annual Lilly Conference on College Teaching.
Erlich is an authority in the field of civic education. As senior scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, he is involved with education outcomes in the development of values, character and citizenship. He is also a distinguished university scholar at San Francisco State University where he teaches courses in community service learning.
Formerly president of Indiana University, Erlich is chair-elect of the American Association of Higher Education and serves as director of Bennett College, the Corporation for National Service, the National Center for Public Policy & Higher Education and the Public Welfare Foundation.
