Lecture part of Romanticism focus
Theodore Ziolkowski, professor of German and comparative literature and former dean of the Graduate School at Princeton University, will speak on "The Romantic Idea of Europe" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Room 100 of the art building.
Ziolkowski is author or editor of 25 books. The Mirror of Justice: Literary Reflections of Legal Crisis received Phi Beta Kappa’s Christian Gauss Prize in 1999.
His talk is part of a universitywide focus on Romanticism initiated with Larry Peer’s appointment as Altman Distinguished Professor in the Humanities for the 2000-2001 academic year. The celebration culminates in November 2001 when Miami will host the annual meeting of the American Conference on Romanticism.
