Shelton recipient of first McKinney Memorial Scholarship

Ikeeshaa Shelton, first-year paper science and engineering major from Troy, Mich., is the first recipient of the Clemie McKinney Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Miami.

Established in honor of Clemie McKinney, a 1968 Miami graduate, the scholarship of $2,320 per semester helps academically qualified minority students majoring in paper science and engineering to meet tuition costs.

McKinney, himself a paper science and engineering major, was commissioned in the United States Navy after graduation. He was killed in action in Vietnam in 1972 and posthumously awarded the Navy Commendation Medal.
