The annual George DiPaolo Memorial Thanksgiving Hockey Tournament will be held at Goggin Ice Center Friday-Sunday, Nov. 24-26. Admission to all the games is free and open to the public.
Participating high schools for this year's tournament are local teams Talawanda, Moeller Academy, Lakota, and St. Xavier, in addition to Sylvania-Southview from Toledo, North Central from Indianapolis and Gilmour Academy and Amherst from Cleveland.
The teams have been divided into two groups with Talawanda, Lakota, St. Xavier, and Sylvania-Southview in the "Goggin Division" and Gilmour Academy, Moeller Academy, Amherst, and North Central in the "Miami Division." On Friday and Saturday, the teams will play other members from their division in a round-robin format. Following the first two days of competition, the teams will be ranked according to point totals and will play the team from the other division who shares the same rank.

George "Pops" DiPaolo started his first restaurant business in Oxford in 1975 and became an integral part of Oxford hockey. He was a member of the Sunday-night "slow-puck" league until 1999 and volunteered with Oxford Youth Hockey, Talawanda High School hockey, and Miami's hockey program. The DiPaolo Tournament was created in 2002.
