Miami staffer part of Red Cross efforts in D.C.
Barbara Bennett, general accounting, is back at her desk, getting caught up on the three weeks of work that accumulated while she was a Red Cross volunteer at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Bennett is disaster chair for the Hamilton Red Cross and has been a Red Cross volunteer since 1974. Her duties in Washington were in the logistics area. Volunteers worked 12-hour shifts, staffing the headquarters for 24 hours.
It was an intense but rewarding experience for Bennett, who has worked at Miami for 26 years. Her mother and father were also Miami employees.
