Student work featured in Hiestand exhibition

John Michael taught art at Miami from 1961 to 1985. He also taught in the Cincinnati Public Schools from 1942 to 1959. Now, an exhibition at Miami’s Hiestand Galleries, School of Fine Arts, will feature Michael’s collection of student work.

"An Art Teacher’s Legacy: the Students of John Michael" will run from Oct. 29 to Nov. 17.

Michael received many awards including the Ohio Art Educators Association Art Educator of the Year, National Art Educators Association Distinguished Service Award, National Art Educator of the Year and Retired Art Educator of the Year.

A reception in honor of Michael and the exhibition will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. The reception is free and open to the public.
