Talawanda/Miami partnership is forum topic
The public is invited to a symposium, sponsored by the honorary society Phi Kappa Phi, on the partnership between the Talawanda School District and Miami at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Heritage Room of the Shriver Center.
A panel of educators including Barbara Schirmer (dean, School of Education and Allied Professions), Rhonda Bohannon (assistant superintendent, Talawanda Schools), Thomas Poetter (educational leadership) and Ann Whelpton (guidance counselor, Talawanda High School) will discuss the goals and intended outcomes.
The panel will be moderated by John Skillings (dean, Arts and Science).
"Phi Kappa Phi hopes that this meeting will generate a lot of interest from the public at large, especially among those in the school system who live outside of Oxford," said Bob Benson, president of Phi Kappa Phi.
This will be the first public presentation in a town hall format on the partnership, and anyone with questions is encouraged to attend.
Phi Kappa Phi will sponsor additional forums on the quality of life in the Oxford area, addressing such issues as education, public/private and town/university partnerships and national/international life.
