‘Light Rapids’ added to outdoor sculptures at MUM

Miami Middletown has added a sixth work to its outdoor sculpture collection with the recent installation of "Light Rapids" by artist Beverly Stucker Precious.

"We are fortunate to have a sculpture by this internationally prominent sculptor," said Gary Wheeler, associate executive director for academic affairs. "The campus selection committee fell in love with her combination of stainless steel, limestone and glass. The sculpture reflects stability and change — both characteristics of higher education — and invites the viewer to interact by walking around and through the piece."

Other works by Precious have been commissioned by Merrill Lynch & Co., Nestlé, Columbus State Community College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The new work joins the outdoor sculptures "Guardian of the Path" by Robert Gaston, "Skylink" by David Black, "The Tree of Life" by Elvin Winslow and "Big Red Bird" and "Untitled" by Aka Pereyma.
