Trustees re-elect Howe chair
Roger L. Howe, retired chairman and CEO of U.S. Precision Lens, has been elected to a second one-year term as chair of Miami’s board of trustees.
Howe, a 1957 Miami graduate and Cincinnati area resident, has served on Miami’s board of trustees since his 1995 appointment by then Gov. George Voinovich. The chair’s responsibilities include presiding at all meetings and appointing committees.
Other officers selected at the Dec. 7 board meeting include Fred Wall, vice chair; Laurel Pressler, treasurer; and Chanda Shah, secretary.
Wall, a Kettering resident and a 1956 Miami graduate, is owner of Madsen Wire Product Inc., Orland, Ind., and a consultant to various manufacturing and service companies.
Shah is chief executive officer and chairman of the board of trustees at Balke Engineers, Cincinnati.
Pressler, of Columbus and a 1979 Miami graduate, serves as chief of staff for Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio).
Trustees at Ohio’s state-assisted universities receive no compensation other than reimbursement for expenses. They are responsible for formulating university policy, evaluating the university’s leadership and adopting an operating budget.
