‘Pirates of Penzance’ Nov. 15-17

Miami Opera Theatre will perform Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic classic, "The Pirates of Penzance," at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in Hall Auditorium.

The performances are part of Miami’s Performing Arts Series, sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council.

Mari Opatz-Muni (music) is director of Miami Opera Theatre. Brian Robertson (theatre) is stage director for the production and Ricardo Averbach (music) conducts. The set is from Chautauqua Opera in New York; costumes are from the Costume Gallery in Newport, Ky.

"Pirates" premiered Dec. 31, 1879, at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York with Arthur Sullivan conducting. It opened in April 1880 in London and ran for more than 350 performances.

Tickets are $5 for Miami students and youth, $8 for senior citizens and $10 for adults. Call 9-3200.
