CPAC project aids children in need

For children who often feel no one cares about them, a gift at the holidays is a reminder that they aren’t forgotten.

For the eighth year, Miami’s classified personnel advisory committee (CPAC) is seeking donations to purchase presents for children caught up in the legal system due to abuse, neglect and dependency.

This year CPAC will provide a duffel-type bag for their belongings, games and toys for 92 children in Butler County’s PARACHUTE program. Donations over the past seven years have provided gifts for more than 300 children.

PARACHUTE is part of the national group known as CASA that provides court-appointed special advocates for children.

To make a difference in the life of a child, send a check payable to Miami University Parachute Project by Dec. 16 to Nancy Coon, MU Paper Science and Engineering Foundation, 233 Gaskill Hall. Those who would like to help purchase or wrap the gifts should contact Judy Webb at 9-1260.
