Atchley to speak on spirituality in gerontology
Social gerontologist Robert Atchley will speak on "Spirituality: A New Frontier for Later Life" at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the art museum.
Atchley served as Distinguished Professor of Gerontology and director of Miami’s Scripps Gerontology Center until 1998, when he became chair of the gerontology department at Naropa University in Colorado.
He has been a key figure in the field of social gerontology over the past 30 years and is author of the best-selling text Social Forces and Aging. Atchley serves on the board of directors for the Spiritual Eldering Institute, a national nonprofit organization.
His lecture is sponsored by the Scripps Gerontology Center. It is free and open to the public.
