University advancement supports Miami 100 percent
The staff of university advancement has achieved 100 percent participation in Miami’s annual fund-raising campaign.
Each member of the division — which includes development, alumni relations, stewardship and donor relations, advancement services and the office of the vice president — made a financial gift or pledge to the university for 2003. Staff of the Red and White Club and the Western College Alumnae Association also joined in this effort.
"I’m extraordinarily proud of our staff members," said Jayne Whitehead Irvin, vice president of university advancement. "Not only do they work hard each and every day for the university, but this generous effort shows they are dedicated to Miami’s students and to their future."
Bob Griffin ’69, president of the Miami University Foundation Board, said, "I have worked with many nonprofit organizations, and never once have I seen a staff achieve 100 percent participation. This is extremely impressive and sends a strong message to Miami alumni that those closest to our fund-raising efforts are solidly behind the university."
Financial gifts from the division of university advancement provide a wide range of support for Miami. Commitments include funding for scholarships, academic departments, libraries, athletics, WMUB, WCAA, Mini-University and many other programs.
In addition, staff members purchased Miami license plates or indicated that their contributions be used for the university’s most pressing needs.
"Making an unrestricted gift gives Miami the flexibility to support high priority programs," said Kevin Marks, director of annual giving. "This funding is absolutely critical to the operation of the university."
Full-time faculty and staff are encouraged to support Miami each year. To make a gift or pledge, or to sign up for payroll deduction, contact Marks at email@example.com or 9-4057.
