Don Parker returns for colloquium

Don Parker, professor emeritus of psychology, will speak on "Virtual Environments: Increasing Enjoyment and Reducing Disturbance" at a colloquium at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in 103 Benton Hall.

Parker retired from Miami in 1993.

His talk will summarize work with colleagues at the University of Washington Human Interface Technology Laboratory during the past 10 years.

The studies, supported by Eastman Kodak as part of its development of a home entertainment facility, have developed procedures that both increase "presence" and enjoyment and reduce negative consequences of virtual environment exposure, especially simulator sickness.
