Forum on affirmative action and admission: Michigan and Miami

The Center for American and World Cultures and the multicultural council will host a forum on "Affirmative Action and Admissions: Michigan and Miami" at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in 212 MacMillan Hall.

Brief presentations will be made by Gus Jones (political science) on the constitutionality and legality of the University of Michigan ruling; Susan Mosley-Howard, associate vice president and dean of students, on the value of diversity to higher education; and Mike Mills, admission director, on Miami’s recruitment and admission plan since the ruling.

Brad Bates, director of intercollegiate athletics, will speak about his experience as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, and Miami alumna Jacqueline George will speak about her experiences as a current graduate student at Michigan.

Presentations will be followed by a question and answer session and discussion.
