Classified pay review committee members named
An eight-member committee has been appointed to review classified pay zone minimums. It is expected to make its recommendations by Jan. 16 with implementation anticipated effective March 13.
The review is a regular part of Miami’s broadbanding classification and compensation program, which was implemented in 1997.
Miami’s recent collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME called for pay zones to go up a minimum of 5 percent as a result of the upcoming review. In 2001, the last time the university reviewed starting wages, the minimum scale went up 8 percent.
Committee members will be provided with market data, analysis and other information in order to arrive at a recommendation, said Richard Norman, vice president for finance and business services.
The committee will be chaired by Cody Powell, director of building maintenance, physical facilities.
Other members include Greg Burnett, trades specialist, physical facilities, AFSCME; Sandra Clemmons, security assistant, parking and transportation services, SATSS; Rick Devine, assistant to the vice president and director of service learning and civic leadership, student affairs; Randy Marcum, trades specialist, physical facilities, AFSCME; Tom Mobley, visiting faculty, school of business, faculty; Irene Pierce, administrative assistant, naval science, SATSS and CPAC; Judi Webb, administrative assistant, information technology, SATSS and CPAC.
Ex officio members, both from personnel, include Kate Stoss, assistant director for compensation, employment and technologies and Denise Ison, personnel generalist.
