Winners named in metals competition
Winners of a juried armworks competition hosted by Miami‘s metals program were announced Oct. 31. Student entries, artwork made for the arm and created in the past year, were solicited from 12 universities in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
Anya Pinchuck of Indiana University received first place for a sterling silver bracelet. Miami student Erica Duffy received second place, Margie White of Bowling Green State received third and Lisa Johnson of Miami took fourth place.
Honorable mentions went to: Harley McDaniel, Miami; Megan Auman, Kent State; and Bree Kenyon, Detroit Center for the Creative Arts. Winners received prizes from competition sponsors, including cash awards from Miami metals.
Juror for the competition was Mary Lee Hu, chair of the metals department in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Washington.
This is the third year Miami metals has sponsored an intercollegiate metals competition.
