Community appreciation parade, pep rally Nov. 24

The Miami University Marching Band will be joined by the Miami football team and cheerleaders for a community appreciation parade in Oxford Monday, Nov. 24.

The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the west side of High Street and proceed to the corner of Main and High by the uptown park, where the band will perform music prepared for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Band members will form two lines (as they will for Santa’s arrival in New York) for the Miami football team and cheerleaders to run through.

At 5 p.m., a pep rally for the Miami/Central Florida game will be held.

The public is invited to attend this special preview, performance and celebration of Miami’s football season and the band’s appearance in New York.

The band will also perform a free concert of music from the marching season at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in Millett Hall. It is open to the public.

David Shaffer is director of the marching band.
