Eileen Bridge has been granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of microbiology.
Bridge received a bachelor’s degree from Bennington College and a doctorate in biological sciences from Johns Hopkins University.
She has been a faculty member at Miami since 1998. Her teaching includes introductory courses for nonmajors, a virology course for microbiology majors and graduate-level courses in advanced molecular and cellular biology.
Bridge is investigating the molecular and cellular biology of adenovirus gene expression. Her work has recently focused on the role that host cell double-strand-break repair proteins play in controlling virus replication and gene expression. Her work has been reported in more than 16 international peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international meetings. Bridge’s research program has been supported by the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute since 1999.
