MUH Artist Series: new faces and old favorites

Miami Hamilton’s 2004-2005 Artist Series features a slate of favorite returning musicians along with some new faces for performances in Parrish Auditorium.

• Contemporary folk artist Gillian Welch, who won a Grammy award for her work on the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12. Tickets are $22 adults, $20 senior citizens and $12 children.

• Trio Globo, with roots in jazz, classical and sacred music, 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2. Tickets are $18 adults, $16 senior citizens and $10 children.

• Celtic music with Patrick Street, 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Tickets are $20 adults, $18 senior citizens and $12 children.

• Ladysmith Black Mambazo, considered South Africa’s cultural emissaries at home and around the world, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24. Tickets are $25 adults, $23 senior citizens and $15 children.

• John Cowan Band and Jesse Winchester, 8 p.m. Sturday, Nov. 13. Tickets are $20 adults, $18 senior citizens and $12 children.

• Mike Marshall and Edgar Meyer, pioneers in the "Classical Crossover" movement, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17. Tickets are $22 adults, $20 senior citizens and $12 children.

• Doyle Larson and Quicksilver present an evening of Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music, 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29. Tickets are $20 adults, $18 senior citizens and $12 children.

• Mark O’Conner’s Hot Swing Trio in two shows, 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Tickets are $24 adults, $22 senior citizens and $14 children.

• IIIrd Tyme Out, with special guest The Lost and Found, 8 p.m. Saturday, April 16. Tickets are $20 adults, $18 senior citizens, $12 children.

Season tickets for all nine shows are $190 adults, $170 senior citizens and $110 children. A Saturday series of six shows is also available for $122 adults, $110 senior citizens and $72 children.

Tickets can be purchased by phone at the Miami box office, 9-3200, or on the Hamilton campus.
