Wind ensemble concert to feature guest conductor

H. Robert Reynolds will be guest conductor for a Miami Wind Ensemble concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, in Hall Auditorium.

The concert is a preview of works the group will perform as an invited ensemble for the Michigan Instrumental Music Conference/North Central MENC Conference in Ann Arbor on Jan. 22.

The program includes a Fanfare by Jim Territo, “Blue Shades” by Frank Ticheli, “Lullaby for Kirsten” by Leslie Bassett, “Niagara Falls” by Michael Daugherty and “The Pride of the Wolverines” by John Philip Sousa.

Gary A. Speck is director of the wind ensemble.

Reynolds is conductor of the wind ensemble at the University of California. He retired in 2001 after 26 years on the faculty of the University of Michigan.

Free and open to the public.
