Whitney Womack has been granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of English.
Womack teaches a wide variety of courses in composition, British and American literature, women's literature and women's studies. In 2003 she won a Celebration of Teaching Award from the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges and Universities.
She is an affiliate in women's studies and black world studies at Miami Hamilton.
She earned A.B. and M.A. degrees at the University of Missouri and completed a Ph.D. at Purdue University.
Her research focuses on the transatlantic relationships and dialogues among 19th-century British and American women writers. She has presented papers at national and international conferences and published articles on Harriet Beecher Stowe, Elizabeth Gaskell, Elizabeth Siddal and Margaret Sackville.
