The office of ethics and student conflict resolution announces that the Theta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Sigma fraternity has been found responsible for violating Miami University's alcohol policy, Section 105B of the Code of Student Conduct.
On Aug. 21, 2006, a person under the legal age of 21 was furnished alcohol at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house.
On Oct. 4, 2006, the president of Kappa Sigma accepted responsibility on behalf of the fraternity.
The following sanctions have been imposed on the fraternity:
Disciplinary probation through March 18, 2007. The chapter is not permitted to participate in any social function with alcohol.
The chapter is required to attend a minimum of a two-hour alcohol class.
The chapter is required to have an alumni advisory board, the names of whom will be submitted to the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership for approval.
