Start the new year with fitness classes sponsored by employee health and well-being. Classes begin Jan. 17 and are free to all benefit-eligible employees.
Classes will be held from 12:10-12:40 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through May 18 in 44 Withrow Hall.
Monday sessions will focus on toning. The 30-minute non-aerobic strength session will use a variety of methods to train the entire body. Wednesday sessions include low-impact aerobics, taught in a continuous rhythmic activity. On Fridays, the class will focus on core-based training to increase strength using a number of new training techniques for the abdominal and lower back muscles.
In addition, a yoga class will be offered Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 16. The class will focus on passive stretching, postures, breathing and increased body awareness.
