'Language as a Weapon' Nov. 14

Author Marguerite Feitlowitz will present “Generals, Admirals, Torturers and Other Philologists: Language as a Weapon in Argentina's 'Dirty War'” at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the Shriver Center Heritage Room.

Feitlowitz, professor of literature at Bennington College, is author of A Lexicon of Terror: Argentina and the Legacies of Torture.

She spent nearly seven years interviewing survivors of the torture centers of Argentina's “dirty war” (1976-83); relatives of desaparecidos (“disappeared”); human rights experts and activists; peasants and labor leaders.
