Architecture students win international prize

Three Miami architecture students received an award of distinction (the top prize) from the 14th annual form*Z Joint Study Program. The students are James Diewald, Jon Pietro and Mike Rudelphsen. Diewald is a senior; Pietro and Rudelphsen graduated in May 2005.

The study program was established at more than 250 universities worldwide by auto.des.sys to support student education in 3D modeling.

The students' project, “Boathouse at Montrose Harbor,” was part of a junior/senior studio taught by Murali Paranandi (architecture and interior design) and won in the animation category. Jury comments described the boathouse project as “a fantastic job using an animation to communicate a nuanced design … a joy to behold.”

Diewald received the award at the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture Conference held in Savannah, Ga., in October. In the past seven years, Miami architecture and interior design students have won first place in all five categories of this competition.
