Nominations sought for University Distinguished Professor appointment

The awards and recognition committee of University Senate seeks nominations for faculty members deemed qualified to be honored by the designation "University Distinguished Professor." Application deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 26, to Lisa Ellram, ellramlm@miamioh.edu.

The title of University Distinguished Professor would be conferred upon those faculty whose achievements unequivocally merit the recognition. The selection process involves a rigorous appraisal, including requests of nationally and internationally known scholars in the appropriate discipline outside Miami University to place the nominee among other distinguished scholars of national and international reputations. University Distinguished Professors receive an annual professional expense allocation to conduct research and for professional activities.

The committee is soliciting nominations for this appointment, which shall commence with the 2015-2016 academic year. Each nominee should be:

1. A member of the Miami faculty for at least eight years holding the rank of professor;

2. A teacher of demonstrated excellence and a contributor to the life and mission of Miami University;

3. A distinguished scholar of national and international stature with demonstrated recognition and with projected high level of scholarly productivity in the future.

To submit a nomination, please send a letter of support which specifically addresses each criterion mentioned above and the nominee’s current curriculum vita to: Lisa Ellram, chair, committee on awards and recognition, department of marketing.
