Oxford Empty Bowls: Soup luncheon benefits Oxford Community Choice Pantry

Bowls ready for soup

Oxford Empty Bowls Saturday, Nov. 8.

Oxford Empty Bowls, a benefit soup luncheon dedicated to helping hungry people in the community, will be held 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at its new location in the Oxford Community Arts Center.

The benefit is held in conjunction with Miami University’s Make a Difference Day (Nov. 8) and Hunger + Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 3-8). All proceeds will be donated to the Oxford Community Choice Pantry.

Cost for the luncheon is $10, but children 10 and under may choose and fill a bowl for free. At the luncheon, guests choose from a collection of handmade bowls created, decorated and donated by Miami students and Oxford area potters. The bowls are then filled with their choice of soups made by local cooks.  Luncheon guests then keep their bowl to use or display at home.

Oxford Empty Bowls is co-sponsored by Miami’s art department with support from the office of community engagement and service and the office of residence life.
This is the 12th year for the benefit. For more information on Oxford Empty Bowls, please contact Connie Malone, 513-330-1273.
