UPAC welcomes Matt Myers, dean of Farmer School of Business, to networking event

Matt Myers, dean of Miami's Farmer School of Business since July 2014, will be the guest speaker at UPAC's networking lunch noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Harris Dining Hall.

Farmer’s eighth dean and second Mitchell P. Rales Chair in Business Leadership, he will share his goals for the school, which is consistently ranked among the nation’s top 25 undergraduate business programs by BusinessWeek.

Myers came to Miami from the University of Tennessee where he was associate dean of the Center for Executive Education and the Nestlé USA Professor in Marketing at the College of Business Administration. He taught global marketing and business strategy at the MBA, executive and doctoral levels. His primary areas of research are in global supply chain networks, foreign market entry strategies and comparative marketing systems.

He has a doctorate in business from the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University and a master’s of international business studies from Moore College of Business, University of South Carolina.

Prior to academia, he worked with Merrill-Lynch and IBM-Argentina. He has studied, taught, and worked in Central America, South America, Europe and Central and East Asia and has consulted with organizations in the global distribution, chemical, insurance, pharmaceutical and marketing research industries.

Mention at the door that you are attending the UPAC talk, and you will receive a reduced rate of $7 for the buffet-style lunch. Using payroll deduction will take off an additional 10 percent. Harris Dining Hall is on South Quad on Miami’s Oxford Campus. Parking is available on Oak and Maple streets. The entrance to the hall is on the north side of the building.

UPAC (Unclassified Personnel Advisory Committee) advises the university administration on matters of interest and concern to unclassified personnel.
