Campus departments invited to submit programs for Welcome Week

Online program submissions are now open for Welcome Week 2016 — 12 days of more than 100 events that help new students connect with Miami resources, people and opportunities, as well as the community in Oxford and Cincinnati.

Any university department can coordinate an event or workshop. More than 40 campus departments offered programs in 2015. The programs are a way for academic departments, student affairs and other departments to introduce new students to important resources at the start of the academic year.

In the past, departments have offered lectures, film screenings, open houses and cookouts/picnics.  Welcome Week also can promote existing events to provide an additional attendance boost.

The week is promoted to students during orientation and move-in, and the full schedule of events will be featured on the Orientation and Welcome Week guide in the Miami University Events app

Welcome Week will begin on Thursday, Aug. 25 (move-in day for first-year students) and continue through Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day).

Submit a program online through the Welcome Week program submission form by Tuesday, June 21, and contact the office of orientation and transition programs for more information.
