Special education program ranked nationally by College Choice

Miami University's bachelor of science in education degree with a special education major has been recognized as one of the top 25 special education programs in the country by College Choice for 2017.

The review of the program emphasized student participation in classroom observations and a semester-long student teaching experience.

The degree prepares students to be a mild-moderate intervention specialist in general education classrooms or other educational settings. Students earn an initial four-year educator license as an intervention specialist which allows them to teach in kindergarten through 12th grade in the state of Ohio.

The program is fully accredited through:

  • The Ohio Department of Education.
  • The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
  • The Council for Exceptional Children.

The mission of College Choice is to help students and their families find the right college and thrive at the school of their choice.
