Dance Theatre spring concerts April 22-23

Dance Theatre will perform April 22 and 23 (student members above and below, photos by Jeff Sabo).

Miami University's Dance Theatre will present a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in Hall Auditorium.

A "TalkBack" will be held after the Saturday performance. 

Dance Theatre, directed by Lana Kay Rosenberg, includes elements of many dance forms, from modern and contemporary to jazz, tap and ballet.

The concert will feature dances choreographed by Rosenberg, guest artists, Dance Theatre alumni and current company members.

Rosenberg, with Matt Hurtado, senior kinesiology member and dance theatre member, choreographed “balancecnalab.

Guest artist and alumnus Dan Weltner (Miami ’85), former professional dancer and dance faculty at New York University (2000-2007), choreographed “Little Hustler on the Prairie.”

Guest artist Judith Mikita, adjunct instructor of modern dance at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, choreographed "Tome.”

Samantha Ackard (Miami '12), a Dance Theatre alumna, choreographed "Unbounded.”

Student choreographers include:

Erin Lensmeyer, senior chemistry major and management minor from Port Huron, Michigan, with “Our Bitter Earth.”

Ellison Luthy, junior psychology major from Columbus, with “Ruminate.”

Emily Micsko, junior kinesiology major and dance minor form Sylvania, with “Sustain.”

Annika Dodrill, junior interior design major from Austin, Texas, with “in Solidarity.”

Tickets

Tickets are free for Miami students at the H.O.M.E. box office in 128 Campus Avenue Building, 529-3200, or at the door. 

Tickets are $8 other students/seniors; $10 in advance and $14 at the door for general admission.
