Try your hand at expressing your springtime experiences with the #MiamiOHpoem poetry contest

spring-campusSpringtime – opening the senses to your experiences at Miami University – will be the theme of this year’s social media poetry contest.

President Greg Crawford and Cathy Wagner, professor of English and director of creative writing, are leading the micro-poetry contest, which kicked off last year with poems about diversity.

Those who want to enter should submit poems by April 20, using the hashtag #MiamiOHpoem. You can either write the poems on Twitter or take a picture of the poem and post it to Instagram, using the same hashtag. Multiple submissions are welcome.

Tell us about what you see, hear and feel at Miami, Wagner says. Tell your Miami story in a more creative way. Tell the rest of the Miami family about yourself.

Students are eligible to win cash prizes. Three grand prizewinners will receive a Love & Honor medal and a $40 gift certificate to the Miami University Bookstore. Honorable mentions will receive an $18.09 credit to the Miami bookstore, in reference to Miami’s charter year of 1809.

Faculty members from Miami’s creative writing program will judge entries.
