Higher education and Miami University face tremendous change. Some other universities are planning their responses in crisis mode.

Thanks to the wise choices of the past decade, Miami is planning its response from a position of relative strength. But the mandate to plan strategically in a constantly shifting higher education landscape is clear.

The strategic plan must be bold, innovative and transformational to meet the needs of tomorrow’s students. Excellence anchors the tradition at Miami. The task is to envision what that excellence will look like in the future.

Chaired by professors Bob Applebaum and Julia Guichard, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee launched in November 2018 and plans to complete its work this summer.

Subcommittees include six targeted areas – Academic Excellence, Excellence in Research and Scholarship, Transformational Student Experience to Integrate Life and Learning, Diversity and Inclusion, Financial Sustainability, and Miami as a National University.

All are invited to participate.
