"Exports and You: Opportunities in ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations" is the inaugural seminar in Miami University Regionals' Globalization Seminar Series. The event takes place at Miami University's Voice of America Learning Center (VOALC) on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 8:30 AM-3:00 PM. Lunch, refreshments and seminar materials are included in the $250 registration fee. (See VOALC location on Google Maps.)

Overview and Speakers

In the "Exports and You" seminar, you will hear about opportunities in the newly created ASEAN Economic Community. ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is similar to the European Union but larger. More than 600 million people live in this culturally and politically diverse market estimated at US $6.2 trillion.

Speakers include:

  • Dr. Lili Yulyadi Bin Arnakim, of the University of Malaya in Malaysia.

  • Marcia Brandstadt, Director of the U.S. Commercial Service (CS) based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
