Chris Klefeker coordinator of Service Learning and Volunteerism at Miami HamiltonChris Klefeker, coordinator of Service Learning and Volunteerism at Miami Hamilton, has been appointed to the Ohio Children's Trust Fund Board by Ohio Governor John R. Kasich to serve a three-year term ending in 2016.

Klefeker brings expertise in child welfare and higher education to the board. The appointment recognizes her collaborative efforts at the state level to bring about an organization dedicated to advocating for foster care alumni who emancipate out of Ohio's foster care system when they turn 18 and pursue post-secondary education.

"This position allows me to broaden my scope and work towards increasing funding and more accountable, quality child abuse prevention programming around the state," Klefeker said.

A resident of Fairfield, Klefeker previously worked as an academic adviser and retention specialist at Miami Hamilton, and has served as the campus Foster Care Liaison since 2006 in conjunction with the Ohio Reach program. Ohio Reach is designed to assist the at-risk student population of foster care alumni as they transition into post-secondary educational settings.

Klefeker is an active member of the Fairfield Rotary Club. She also serves as the adviser to the Miami Hamilton Rotaract Club, the college version of Rotary, which is co-sponsored by the Rotary clubs of Hamilton and Fairfield.
