Academics

The Department of Art's special responsibility is to promote the arts and prepare students at various levels, depending on their intent and level of focus. We offer everything from intense graduate work and professional undergraduate majors to individual sprint courses and non-degree courses for individuals at more of a hobbyist level.

The Department of Art offers the following undergraduate degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Art and Architecture History
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with concentrations in ceramics, metals, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture
  • Bachelor of Science in Art Education (Visual Arts Licensure Program)

Teacher certification requirements may also be incorporated with the BFA degree.

We also offer the following minors:

  • Art and Architecture History
  • 2D Media Studies (painting, photography, printmaking)
  • 3D Media Studies (ceramics, metals, sculpture)
  • Graphic Design (in planning stages, coming in Fall 2015)

At the level of graduate study, we offer:

  • Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art: ceramics, jewelry design and metalsmithing, painting, printmaking and sculpture
  • Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in Graphic Design (coming in Fall 2014)

In addition, we offer international programs that focus specifically on art and design-related topics.

The Department of Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
