Immerse yourself in a skill-building workshop and improve your wheel throwing abilities so that you can make your ideas and sketches a reality. Students will learn to better throw traditional pottery forms. Along with throwing demonstrations and image presentations, techniques such as pulling handles, trimming, making lids and spouts will also be explored. Participants will have ample time to practice these new techniques.
Upcycled T-Shirt Art-To-Wear | Jennifer Reis

Learn both construction and adornment techniques to make art-to-wear out of upcycled t-shirts! This workshop will lead participants through basic to advanced construction and embellishments to make corsages, head wraps, scarves and skirts out of reclaimed t-shirts. Students will learn to deconstruct shirts, create personalized clothing patterns, simple machine stitching construction, and a wide range of hand-stitching, traditional and reverse applique, embroidery and embellishment. Adornment techniques easily translate into other fabrics and uses.

Learn how to make beautiful fine silver objects from a soft, workable “clay like” material called Precious Metal Clay. This material, when fired, becomes 99.9% fine silver. Imagine the possibilities! This introductory weekend course will teach specific techniques using PMC and offer a solid base to begin to use PMC more extensively.

Spend a weekend learning something new and create beautiful pieces of art. Students will learn several different techniques to produce usable bowls and dishes by melting glass onto copper. This ancient craft is fun and fascinating and does not require previous art experience. These jewel-like pieces are decorative as well as useful.
Intro to Glass Fusing | Monica Rakovan
Beginner Level | February 22 & 23, 2014
Learn the process of fusing glass, glass compatibility and safety to create jewelry and decorative glass pieces. Practice cutting glass and learn the kiln firing schedule including annealing, tack and full fusing. Learn the basic technique and design glass art pieces with frits, stringers, confetti, rods, sheets, etc.
