Service Saturdays

Information for Fall 2017 Service Saturdays coming soon!

Service Saturdays typically take place one Saturday a month during the academic year and provide opportunities for large groups of volunteers to give back to the local community surrounding Miami University - Oxford. Our student leaders are responsible for identifying, planning, implementing and marketing monthly volunteer opportunities available through involvement in Miami’s Service Saturdays to students, faculty and staff. Through this program individual students, student organizations, faculty and staff are given the opportunity to serve as volunteers and work with local residents and non-profit organizations to help meet the needs of the community. Volunteer opportunities provided through Service Saturdays are easy-access, one-time projects geared towards bringing students, faculty and staff together for service.

Participants in Service Saturdays will:

  • Recognize own role as a member of the Oxford community
  • Understand the value and impact of service on community or agency
  • Demonstrate knowledge of community issues, needs, strengths and resources
  • Enhance commitment to community engagement and service through involvement in the community
