Designation

Miami University faculty from both Oxford and Regional campuses may apply for the Service-Learning (SL) designation or renew an existing SL course by completing the Proposal for Miami University Service-Learning Course Designation.

The Service-Learning Designation Committee (SLDC) meets once per semester to review submitted proposals. The SL designation applies for three years, after which faculty need only resubmit the current SL course syllabus to the SLDC for re-approval. The SL designation is granted only to the faculty member who requests it, not all sections of the course.

The designation committee uses a rubric to evaluate all Service-Learning courses.
