Cross Cultural Connections Dinner

Everyone is Welcome!

Get acquainted with Miami University students, faculty, and staff to make lasting connections that impact retention efforts. This event engages multicultural students by coming together, to make connections, while addressing a common topic of diversity. The event includes dinner, a speaker, and a get-acquainted activity. 

Lavatus Powell Diversity Awards

The Lavatus Powell Diversity Awards Banquet was established to recognize students, staff and faculty who have dedicated their endeavors to uplifting the diverse communities on campus and changing the institutional climate. The banquet also celebrates the life of Lavatus V. Powell who was a former Vice President at Procter & Gamble and community leader. He was also the husband of Dr. Myrtis W. Powell, Former Vice President of Student Affairs at Miami University.

Lavender Graduation Ceremony

Lavender Graduation is our chance to celebrate the achievements of the past year. Everyone is invited to join in, as we honor graduates from the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allied community. This special event is a collaborative project of LGBTQ* Services, the 1809 LGBT Alumni, Haven, Spectrum, and GLEAM. Reception to follow in the Heritage Room in Shriver.

Horizon Graduation Ceremony

The Horizon Graduation Ceremony recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of graduating undergraduate and graduate diverse students. The name HORIZON was chosen to signify the new beginnings, opportunities, challenges, outlooks, and options facing our students at the dawn of their professional lives. The event is held on Commencement weekend. Family and friends are invited to share in this special recognition of students.

Ticket Information

Tickets typically become available for Horizon Graduation in April.

Tickets for graduating seniors and guests under the age of 10 are free. Other guests must purchase a $5 ticket. All attendees must reserve a spot through the Miami University Box Office (513-529-3200 or www.tickets.miamioh.edu). Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

The deadline to purchase or reserve your ticket is typically the Tuesday prior to the ceremony.
