Volunteer for Move In Miami 2018

Wednesday & Thursday, August 22 & 23

First year students will be moving onto campus in August, and they need your help! Take advantage of the excellent opportunity to get your organization's name out to potential new members while making our new students feel at home at Miami.

Please only sign up if you can make a commitment to your organization, the Office of Student Activities, and Miami University that you will be present to help first year students during your assigned shift. You must sign up as an individual. Every attempt will be made to assign organizations to adjacent residence halls so that members of your group will be working together.

Please expect to receive a confirmation and your assigned time slot with additional information on or before August 17.

Please note: if you are living on campus in the fall and want to move in early to participate, you will be charged extra for the additional days you occupy your residence hall room. For this reason, it is recommended that primarily Juniors and Seniors from your group volunteer for this opportunity.

When signing up, you will select which shift you are interested in working. Keep in mind that you will be assigned to every shift for which you sign up. Only select multiple shifts if you are interested in working each of them. Participants should arrive at Armstrong Student Center fifteen to twenty minutes before the scheduled shift to check in and receive hall assignments.

Greek Spring Clean

Greek Spring Clean

 

Held in April each year, Greek Spring Clean brings fraternity and sorority members together to perform volunteer clean up in the Oxford area and beyond. Local officials and hundreds of Greek Life students work with Hueston Woods State Park, Matthew 25 Ministries in Cincinnati, and Butler County Metro Parks to assist those in need, while continuing to build the relationships between Miami students and Oxford residents.

Partnership with the Office of Community Engagement and Service

The Office of Community Engagement and Service is committed to making both community service and service-learning focal points of the undergraduate experience. We endeavor to develop and provide resources to assist students, faculty and staff who wish to engage in community service and service-learning projects. The site is designed to provide you with information, ideas, and resources to help you pursue your interests in these areas.

The Adopt-A-School Program

The implementation of Miami's "Adopt-A-School" Program continues to profoundly impact the oxford community. The program was initiated in the Fall of 1989, but the Fraternity/Sorority Community to aid the Talawanda School District in their efforts to maintain excellent educational programs for the community's young people. Students serve as tutors in the classroom and become role models for the students with whom they work closely with.
