Student Conduct at Miami

The Office of Ethics & Student Conflict Resolution’s primary purpose is to safeguard the learning environment of Miami University by upholding its standards for student conduct. In order to do that we must maintain a system for doing so. While it is not our intent that the system be confusing we realize that it can be for a student who has never been involved in the student conduct process.

Staff in our office are the best resource for current information about how the process works, what a student's rights are within the process, and how to prepare for a hearing. While it may be natural to ask a friend, a parent, or attorney for advice, we are the experts and are happy to answer your questions via email or phone. Please feel free to contact us at (513) 529-1417 or oescr@miamioh.edu.

Can I be tried in the municipal court and by the University? Isn't this double jeopardy?

The University may pursue disciplinary action even if criminal charges are incomplete, reduced, or dismissed.
