January Orientation - Early Arrivals

Students

New students who live on campus and participate in the January orientation program can request to move in to their assigned residence hall room as early as 8am on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.   Early move-in must be arranged with Miami's HOME (Housing Options, Meals, and Events) Office as a request for University Break Housing.  If you have further questions about early move-in arrangements, please contact the HOME Office at 513-529-5000 or email home@miamioh.edu.

We expect most on-campus students to move in one one of the following dates:

  • Wednesday, January 24, 2018: One day before January orientation (This is four days prior to the start of your housing contract; an early move-in fee of $29.50 per night will be added to your bursar bill. This is the best option for students who are traveling more than one hour to campus.)
  • Thursday, January 25, 2018: First day of January orientation (This is three days prior to the start of your housing contract; an early move-in fee of $29.50 per night will be added to your bursar bill. This is a popular option for students who live within a few hours of campus.  Note that the January orientation program will begin on the afternoon Thursday, January 25, even if you do move into your room that morning.)
  • Sunday, January 26, 2018: This is the day your housing contract begins; there is no additional charge for moving in on this day (This is a popular option for students who live within driving distance of campus, and do not want to stay on campus during January orientation.  In this case, you would return home or arrange your own accommodations after orientation day 1, and return to campus for orientation day 2.)

NOTE: If you do not register for early arrival and you access your residence hall room prior to Sunday, January 28, you will be charged an early arrival rate of $55 per night.

Guests

Residence hall accommodations for January orientation are only available for students who will be living on campus during spring semester 2018.  We are not able to offer residence hall accommodations for new students who will live off campus, or family/guests of new students.
