What is Welcome Weekend and First 50 Days?  It's seven weeks of more than 350 events that will help you meet new people, connect with campus resources, learn your way around, pursue success in your first semester, and have a great time!  Welcome Weekend refers to the first weekend that all first-year students are on campus - from move-in day on Thursday, August 24 through Sunday, August 27.  First 50 Days begins with the first day of classes, on August 28, and continues through October 15.

Welcome Weekend & First 50 Days 2017 Schedule (web version)

Welcome Weekend & First Fifty Days features more than 400 programs sponsored by 40+ campus departments.  There is something for everyone!  Many of the programs over that first weekend (Thursday, August 24 - Sunday, August 27) are required for the whole first-year class, so please plan to attend.  New students will receive instructions from resident assistants (RAs) or via email (particularly for commuter students) regarding events that all students are expected to attend.

All first-year students should attend:

Thursday, August 24

  • 6:30-8pm: All-Hall & Corridor Meetings
  • 8-11pm: First Night Block Party

Friday, August 25

  • 9-10am: Convocation
  • 10:15-11:15am: Summer Reading Workshops
  • 11:15am-12:15pm: College Welcomes
  • 4:45-6pm: Love & Honor Celebration
  • 6:15 - 8pm: Miami Women's Volleyball Game
  • 8-11pm: Welcome hoMe with Late Night Miami

Saturday, August 26

  • 8pm - 12:00am: Armstrong Palooza

Sunday, August 27

  • 10am-11:30am: Fire Safety Fair (will engage 1/3 of FY campus residents)
  • 1:30-2:30pm: Convocation Rain Date
  • 12:30-2:00pm: Fire Safety Fair (will engage 1/3 of FY campus residents/will be rescheduled if Convocation Rain Date is used)
  • 3:00-4:30pm: It Is My Place (Sexual & Interpersonal Violence/Bystander Education)
  • 6:30-8:30pm: Residential Community Welcomes

Monday, August 28

  • 6:30-8pm: Fire Safety Fair (will engage 1/3 of FY campus residents)

Wednesday, August 30

  • 6-9pm: Mega Fair (Rain date: September 6)
