January Orientation - Relocation Students

The Office of Orientation and Transition Programs is eager to welcome students who are relocating to the Oxford campus from one of Miami's regional campuses. To help you become acquainted with your new community, we invite you to January Relocation Orientation. This program is scheduled in mid-January each year, typically from 12:30-4:00pm. This program is designed specifically for relocation students and guests; there is no cost to attend, but we do ask that you pay for your parking (less than $5).

At relocation orientation, you will:

  • Meet other new relocation students
  • Take a campus tour, and identify the buildings where your classes will be held
  • Discover campus resources for academic and co-curricular success
  • Learn about resources that will help you navigate and do business on campus, such as parking and bill payment
  • Talk with Oxford staff about any questions you have

  • 12-12:35pm: Welcome, student connections & family-specific resources
  • 12:35-12:55pm: Parking, transportation, commuter resources
  • 12:55-1:10pm: housing, campus dining, student IDs
  • 1:10-1:40pm: Student meet & greet (facilitated by student leaders) / family resources session for parents & families
  • 1:40-2:00pm: Campus resources
  • 2-2:35pm: Community Expectations and Campus Safety
  • 2:35-3:35pm: Campus tour - find the location of your spring semester classes, as well as important campus resources such as King Library, the Rec Center, and the Student Health Service.
  • 3:35-3:45pm: Tour concludes at Oxford's One Stop (resource for financial aid, bill payment, registration records) with welcome and brief presentation from One Stop staff
  • 3:45-4:30pm: (optional) time for additional questions or visiting university offices, campus stores, or the Armstrong Student Center

Childcare will not be provided, but students who have children are welcome to bring them along; each student may bring up to two family members or guests.  If you would like to eat before or after the program, the Armstrong Student Center, with several dining options, is next door to Kreger Hall, where relocation orientation will be held.
