Transfer Students - August Orientation Academic Advising

If you have not yet received academic advising and registered for classes, August orientation serves as your opportunity to do so. You must receive academic advising prior to registering for classes. Academic advising and registration for transfer students will take place on Thursday, August 24 during August orientation. For questions regarding academic advising and registration, please contact the academic division for your major. Undecided students will be advised by staff in the College of Arts and Science.

Important resources for advising and registration:

Guidebook for New Students

The Guidebook for New Students (PDF) serves as a smaller version of the Miami University Bulletin, focusing largely on the all-university requirements known as the Global Miami Plan. The table of contents appears below. All students who will register for classes at orientation will receive a printed copy of the Guidebook.

Other Resources

Advanced Placement Credit: This website lists the credit given for AP and IB exams for Miami courses.  Advisers at Orientation can be of additional assistance to students in understanding and applying this information, especially since Miami doesn't receive this year's official AP scores until July.

English Composition Guide: This document explains answers to commonly asked questions about enrolling in English courses.

The Bulletin: The Bulletin is produced by the Registrar's Office, and includes complete information regarding general and major requirements as well as course descriptions and details regarding registration.
