Campus Dining

Student meal plans will begin on 9am Sunday, January 26, 2020. You will need to pay for your own meals during January orientation and until your meal plan begins. Dining facilities will be open during January orientation in the Armstrong Student Center (where the orientation program is held). For information on dining hall hours, please visit the Dining Services website.

Moving In to Your Residence Hall Room (on-campus residents)

New students who live on campus and participate in the January orientation program can request to move in to their assigned residence hall room as early as 8am on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Early move-in must be arranged with the Campus Services Center as a request for University Break Housing. If you have further questions about early move-in arrangements, please contact the Campus Services Center at 513-529-5000 or email home@miamioh.edu.

Students who attend January orientation will be charged an early arrival fee of $33.00 per night for each night before the residence hall contracts begin on Sunday, January 26, 2020.

On-campus students may move in:

  • Wednesday, January 22, 2020: One day before January orientation (This is four days prior to the start of your housing contract; an early move-in fee of $33.00 per night will be added to your bursar bill. This is the best option for students who are traveling more than one hour to campus)
  • Thursday, January 23, 2020: First day of January orientation (This is three days prior to the start of your housing contract; an early move-in fee of $33.00 per night will be added to your bursar bill. This is a popular option for students who live within a few hours of campus.  Note that you should check in for orientation between 12:30-1:15pm, even if you do move into your room that morning.)
  • Sunday, January 26, 2020: This is the day your housing contract begins; there is no additional charge for moving in on this day (This is a popular option for students who live within driving distance of campus, and do not want to stay on campus during January orientation. In this case, you would return home or arrange your own accommodations after orientation day 1, and return to campus for orientation day 2.)

Getting Your ID Card

Upon arrival for January orientation, students should first go to the Campus Services Center in the Campus Avenue Building (commonly known as "CAB") at 301 S. Campus Avenue (corner of Spring Street and Campus Avenue), Room 129. There, students will receive their Miami ID, which serves as the residence hall key to their on-campus room.

As new students prepare to arrive and move in to their residence hall accommodations, the following resources may be helpful:

Students and guests who have registered for January orientation will receive an orientation parking pass via email approximately one week prior to the program. Print the parking pass and display it in your vehicle dashboard as you move in to your residence hall room, and for parking during January orientation.

Note: Students who do not register for early arrival and who access their residence hall room prior to their approved arrival date will be charged an early arrival rate of $39.00 per night.

Guests

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer on-campus overnight guest accommodations for the January orientation program. Guests should make their own arrangements for overnight stays at a nearby hotel; our on-campus Marcum Hotel and Conference Center is an excellent option. You may wish to review a list of local accommodations, including the Marcum Center.
