Hello and welcome to the web site for the Office of Second Year Programs at Miami University.  This office was created to better prepare second-year students for continued success academically and personally, to help students connect to Miami University, and help focus university resources on the needs of second-year students.

This program is unique in that it is a second year program for the entire campus being offered at a large state university.  Typically second year programs on large campuses are offered only through Living Learning Communities to a small number of students.  Because of our goal of focusing on all Miami second-year students, the second year residency requirement was created.

This office partners with many different resources on campus in order to bring programming to students through three main avenues:

First: Through the second-year residency requirement and Residence Life programming

Second: Through programming within the Greek community

Third: Programming directly through this office or in collaboration with other student affairs and academic affairs offices on campus.

Programming is offered in six main thematic areas:

  • Commitment to Major
  • Career Identification
  • Wellness
  • Cultural Competency
  • Community Service
  • Transition to the Oxford Community
